Description

Course will focus untensively on a single method or technique commonly utilized in cultural anthropology. It will provide students with basic instruction on when the method is appropriate, best practices for successfully implementing the method, the kinds of data that can be expected and basic techniques for interpreting and analyzing the data. Practical experience using the method will be included. Teh course is repeatable and the methods to be covered include: interviewing, participant observation, life histories/genealogies, fieldnotes, basic quantification, textual analysis, historical/archival research
