Course Title
Politics of the Middle East
Department(s)
Description
This course provides graduate students with an introduction to the contemporary politics of the Middle East region (taken to comprise the Arab states of the Fertile Crescent and Persian Gulf, Iran, and Israel), with a particular focus on the region's international relations. Since it is impossible to be comprehensive in covering all the issues in Middle East politics in one semester, it focuses on a few of the most important issues: the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, Islamism, the Iranian Revolution, and the challenges of political democratization and economic development.
