This course will examine Caribbean history in comparative perspective with a focus on the Hispanic Caribbean. Patterns of demographic, economic, social, political, and cultural development will be studied by comparing how the Anglophile, Francophile, and Hispanic Caribbean colonies/nations evolved and were transformed from the pre-colonial period to the present.
