Description
This course provides students with an overview of computational techniques used in astrophysics. Topics covered will include; numerical evaluation of integrals and derivatives, fast fourier transforms, nonlinear equations, numerical solution of ordinary and partial differential equations, Monte Carlo techniques and elements of machine learning. Numerical simulation of gravity and hydrodynamics will also be discussed. In addition, basics of high performance computing, parallel computing and graphics processing unit programming will be introduced.
